We welcome the transition to autumn with music centered around light and color. The centerpiece of the program, Joshua Shank’s Color Madrigals, is a setting of six poems by John Keats, each featuring a different color from the spectrum. The change of light in autumn can be seen in the natural world, as depicted in Jacob Narverud’s August, and commonly evokes nostalgia and the passing of time as reflected in Stephen Paulus’s The Road Home. Closing the program is Kevin Siegfried's At the Water's Edge based on text by Sarah Orne Jewett and depicts the beautiful and peaceful landscape of the New England coast.
